The gift of prophecy is a spiritual grace intended to edify the church. Sadly, many claim to use this gift but abuse the function of this gift for their own sordid gain. This abuse has caused many to despise the gift of prophecy in the church, but the apostle Paul encouraged the church not to despise prophecy and to desire to prophesy. If that is the case, we want to foster a proper desire for the correct use of this gift in the church.
