Pastor Mike was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and moved to Albuquerque, NM at the age of ten. He grew up on the west side of town and graduated from Cibola High School.
Pastor Mike did not grow up in a Christian home. He was first exposed to the gospel as a teenager while working at El Pinto Restaurant. At that time he was convicted by the gospel but rejected it to continue a "stoner" lifestyle. Two years later, a close friend shared the gospel with him and that night God broke through the fog of his temporary high and grabbed hold of Mike’s heart and he committed his life to Jesus Christ.
Pastor Mike spent the first years of his Christian walk at Calvary Albuquerque where he was taught the Bible, book-by-book, verse-by-verse.
Eager to grow in his faith, Mike enrolled in Calvary’s School of Ministry, a one-year Bible school. He went on to attend Calvary Albuquerque’s Shepherd School, a one-year program aimed at training and equipping men called to pastoral service. Mike was part of Calvary Albuquerque for 14 years.
In 2005, Mike and his wife, Melissa, along with their baby daughter, moved to New Orleans to plant a church. Hurricane Katrina came through only a few months later, blowing them right back to Albuquerque.
After returning to New Mexico and serving at Calvary Albuquerque, Mike began to periodically teach at Calvary Chapel New Harvest in Los Lunas, NM. Eventually his family moved to Los Lunas to serve there full-time.
In 2009, Mike was ordained by Pastor David Maestas of CC New Harvest, where he served as the assistant pastor for the next five years. This time provided a special season of growth as Pastor David took him under his wing, investing in his life as both a pastor and a friend.
In 2014, Mike and two close friends from the School of Ministry began to pray about starting a church on the west side of Albuquerque. In July 2014 Redemption Hill was born.
Mike lives in Albuquerque with his wonderful wife, Melissa and their four phenomenal daughters.
