Israel’s corruption began from within. Starting with the priests, they grew ungrateful and came to despise the table of the Lord. They no longer treasured the privilege of access and fellowship God had granted them, and from that inward decay the nation itself was led astray and became thoroughly corrupt. Yet in His mercy, God sent His messenger Malachi to confront their waywardness and call them back to repentance.
