It has been well said that some of God’s greatest gifts are unanswered prayers. Yet the opposite can also be true. Some of God’s most sobering judgments come when He hands people over to the very thing they supremely desire and continue to demand despite repeated warnings. This is precisely what happens when Israel insists on having a king like all the other nations.
